Leon Knoles has worked in the television industry for over two decades. His most recent directing credits include In Performance At The White House: Women Of Soul, The Arsenio Hall Show and Gloria Estefan “The Standards”. Other directing credits include The National Christmas Tree Lighting, The Tenors “Lead With Your Heart”, the second season of “Verses and Flow”, The Texas Tenors “You Should Dream”, In Performance At The White House: Country Music, Michael Feinstein “The Sinatra Legacy”, In Performance At The White House: Motown Sound, and Diane Warren: Love Songs.
Knoles started his career as a technical director with credits that include the Oscar Red Carpet Show, three seasons of American Idol, five seasons of Last Comic Standing, BET Honors, and Americas Got Talent. Then he began directing, starting with Damon Wayans Comedy Special “Way Out” (Comedy Central), “NAACP Image Awards Pre Telecast”, “Light of the Angels” Christmas Special, and “Earth Hour Live”
With a passion for music, Knoles has directed a wide range of talent including Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Mumford and Sons, Sting, Neil Young, Alabama Shakes, Smokey Robinson, John Legend, James Taylor, the Foo Fighters, Sheryl Crow, Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock, Dave Matthews, and hosts Jon Stewart, Jack Black, Neil Patrick Harris and Jamie Foxx.
